The <strong>Certificate in Civil Sitework Construction</strong> will equip students with career advancement skills in the areas of site work development including excavation, site utilities, and road way improvements. This online program will help students develop usable skills in understanding construction equipment utilization, civil blueprint reading, and civil estimating. The program focuses on skills needed by constructors interested in site development. Excavation, roads, bridges, and underground utilities will also be covered. Students will learn how to work with the earth, how to select, use, and budget for the best equipment needed to transform a plot of land into a developed site and how to utilize related construction documents.<br /><br />
<strong>The Certificate</strong><br />
To complete the certificate, students will complete the following four core courses: <em>Construction Equipment and Methods, Practical Applications of Civil Construction, Estimating Civil Construction,</em> and <em>Civil Blueprint Reading and Materials</em>. Students must also complete one additional elective course <em>(Contract Documents and Construction Law or Planning and Scheduling)</em> All classes should be completed within two years of starting the program.

This certificate program is held online. Consistent access to the Internet is required.<br /><br />

These online courses will provide students with opportunities to work through case studies, site related questions, issues, and typical job related problems. Quizzes provide students with immediate feedback on their understanding of the content. Students set their own class times to complete the work due each week. Instructors are active career professionals who bring experience and knowledge to the classroom.<br /><br />
This program is authorized by SDSU's College of Engineering. Students earn three professional development units per course.<br /><br />
