OLLI Director Aimee Davis

Welcome to OLLI Outlook. With summer in full swing, our advisory board, volunteer committees, and staff have been busy thinking up ideas to engage members in new ways, introduce new members to our OLLI community, and fulfill our collective desire to never stop learning.

This summer, 22 members joined our brand new Speakers’ Bureau and they’re ready to go with a concise and entertaining 15- to 20-minute presentation on the benefits of membership. If you belong to a Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club or any other service organization, we’d appreciate your help in getting one of our Speakers’ Bureau volunteers on the meeting agenda.

If you can connect us with the appropriate person at your service club, please email osher@mail.sdsu.edu or call (619) 594-2863.

By helping to increase membership, you’ll be helping us secure the future of OLLI for you, your family and friends, and the community.

Our fall catalog should arrive in your mailbox on August 11. A much anticipated highlight is the lecture by SDSU’s Dr. William Welsh, a pioneer in the field of circumbinary planets — which have two suns in their skies. Currently we know of 10 such planet systems, and most were discovered by astronomers at SDSU.

This fall will also offer more opportunities to connect, with the debut of the OLLI Café – a social hour held between classes in a specially designated room at SDSU where students can relax, regroup, have lunch, share insights about classes, and catch up. Coffee, water, and tea are provided. Attendees will be entered to win a door prize!

Thank you for being a part of our community. I look forward to seeing you on campus soon!
