Today’s educational environment is rapidly changing. Education technology is on the rise, and SDSU’s Learning Design and Technology (LDT) program can help teachers and trainers leverage education technology to make their lessons more engaging for all students.

LDT, housed within SDSU’s School of Journalism and Media Studies, offers a fully online master’s degree program and two professional certificates. In collaboration with SDSU’s Global Campus, LDT is now launching a nine-month Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in New Technologies for Teaching and Learning. With these online educational design courses, you can learn new teaching and training methods using the latest instructional design technology. You’ll be able to provide better access and more engaging ways of learning for your students.

Get the Tools to Enhance Your Teaching and Training Methods

For educators, LDT presents an opportunity to incorporate digital tools to enhance teaching methods. Theories are explored, but the curriculum goes beyond just developing a foundation. You’ll have the opportunity to implement these tools and skills through guided education technology projects from local and global organizations.

For Chanel Phengdy, a transfer student from another CSU campus, the balance between learning theory and application through practice is one of her favorite aspects of the program.

“Through the DesignLAB, we work with partners on client-based projects, which is a great way to gain a lot of practical experience and build up our portfolio before we even graduate,” said Phengdy.

For Emily Roizin, a master’s candidate from Massachusetts, the LDT program fits into her working lifestyle.

“I just got really excited hearing about LDT and something just clicked,” said Roizin. “On top of that, the program is super flexible, all online and I can keep my full-time job.”

The fully-online Certificate for New Technologies in Teaching and Learning can be completed in a minimum of nine months. The four courses span the topics of virtual reality, augmented reality, digital learning games, and using accessible apps and software for teaching or training.

The course instructors are not only subject-matter experts and innovators, but supporters along the way as you complete your LDT education.

“I can feel the instructors’ presence online,” said Phengdy. “There’s communication, support, and guidance.”

Roizin echoed those sentiments and feels at home as an Aztec in LDT.

“I feel like I’ve found my people,” she said.
