Dan McDowell

Dan McDowell is the director of Instructional Technology in the Grossmont Union High School District (El Cajon, Calif.) where he proposed and implemented a 1:1 Chromebook teaching and learning initiative. He is also a lecturer in the online Master of Arts in Teaching program at San Diego State University. Prior to being a district administrator, he taught social studies and photography at West Hills High School for 18 years. McDowell is a national, state, and local educational technology leader, presenting over 200 workshops, conference sessions, and seminars. A Google Certified Teacher since 2007, he has significant experience integrating technology into the K–12 social studies classroom, including digital lesson design, social networking, Google products, blogs, and multimedia production. Additionally, McDowell develops curriculum materials for PBS, the History Channel, and independent projects. He received a master’s in Educational Technology in 2006.
