SDSU Global Scholars: On-Campus Research Opportunities for International Students
The Global Scholars Program at San Diego State University provides an unparalleled opportunity for students worldwide to immerse themselves in the academic and research culture of SDSU.
By fostering collaboration between students and faculty, the program aims to contribute to the global landscape of scholarly research while offering a transformative experience for participants.
The immersive, full-time program is designed to foster international collaboration, facilitate academic growth, and contribute to the global advancement of knowledge. It is structured to provide participating students with hands-on research experience, the opportunity to contribute to academic publications, and a supportive academic environment.
What Will Students Do?
- Engage in scholarly research and creative activities led by SDSU faculty.
- Guaranteed opportunity to contribute to work that will be published in an academic journal or culminating creative performance.
- Integration into the academic and social life of SDSU.
- Encouragement of cultural exchange through organized events and activities.
- Access to workshops and seminars on academic and research skills.
- Networking opportunities with industry professionals and scholars.
Program Eligibility
The program is open to students worldwide with:
- At least three years of successful undergraduate experience.
- Demonstration of English language proficiency (using one of the three options below).
- English proficiency tests accepted:
- 80 iBT TOEFL
- 550 PBT TOEFL
- 58 Pearson Test of English (PTE)
- 105 Duolingo English Test
- 6.5 IELTS
- Completion of Global Campus Intensive ESL: Level 106
- University degree was completed in the U.S., Australia, U.K., or another country where instruction was in English

Additional eligibility requirements may be added based on the knowledge and skills necessary for each unique research opportunity, such as specific data analysis experience, and educational history.
Participants will be issued F-1 visas to facilitate their full-time engagement in the program.
Program Fee
The Global Scholars program costs $15,000 per semester.
Academic Support
Global Scholars program students will be enrolled in the Applied Research Methodology course offered by SDSU Global Campus. If necessary, students will take English language training offered by SDSU Global Campus.

SDSU Global Campus is currently seeking interest from students. The process is under development and will include a matchmaking process between applicants and faculty leading research.
