CB 0010 Brewing Basics

This course will expand on the introduction to brewing that is covered in Exploring Craft Beer. Students will gain a deeper understanding of brewing terminology as well as how the manipulation of raw ingredients and brewing practices result in the wide variety of beer styles. Each week will focus on a separate stage in the brewing process. The class will brew a beer together during the final.

ML 0027 Increasing Emotional Intelligence

Teams are more creative and productive when they can achieve high levels of participation, cooperation, and collaboration among members. Learn the conditions necessary for effective teams and how emotional intelligence (EQ) plays a role in all three:

  • Mutual trust among members
  • Sense of group identity
  • Sense of group efficacy

The workshop presents a number of tested principles and gives participants a chance to practice and plan how to use new skills and knowledge.

Australian wine history dates back over 200 years, and its wine regions span a vast area with amazing diversity in climate, soils, winemaking and wine styles. Together we’ll explore the origins of Australia's wine industry, what influenced wines then and what influences them today. Australia is experiencing a renaissance, redefining itself beyond warm climates and generic styles with an explosion of sensational small-batch producers bucking tradition and pushing boundaries. This class will feature some tasting surprises to complement the material.

ENGR 0018 Construction Materials and Processes

Examines the materials used to construct a variety of structures, highways, utilities, and residential buildings. Includes terminology; interpretation of plans; and specifications to assure that correct materials are ordered, applied, and utilized. Methods of identifying materials delivered to the job site, methods of handling, quality control procedures for testing, and inspection of private and government work will be emphasized. Special emphasis will be given to the relationship of each material to the Uniform Building Code.

In a computing environment where client data assets are remotely hosted, data asset security becomes an important factor when considering the potential transition to cloud services. Designed to provide a working knowledge of contract types, grants, and effective contracting methodologies. Students will receive an overview of the contract types most frequently used in federal contracting, including factors in the selection of contract types, applicable contract clauses, as well as the basic principles and limitations governing their use.
