This course explores the unique set of factors and expectations involved in using special events as a fundraising tool for nonprofits and covers topics including: creating unique events, complementing an organization’s mission and development plan, setting budgets and timelines, generating multiple revenue streams, designing and selling corporate sponsorships, and getting free PR.

This course presents the basic concepts of computer programming and introduces learners to structured programming concepts, coding design, and style. Learners will be introduced to selection and repetition programming constructs, structured data types, and procedures. This course aims to teach generic programming concepts and skills using pseudo code to illustrate and work through algorithms and programming logic and discusses some of the most common best practices that should be used in the planning and coding stages. Unix is one of the most widely used operating systems in the world. It has gained success in personal use markets, such as desktop PCs (with Unix-based operating systems like Linux and Mac OS X), and in smartphones with the Android operating system. Used by individuals, companies, and organizations for a variety of applications, commercial Unix systems include Oracle Solaris, IBM AIX, and HP-UX. Learn to the basics of Unix, a brief history of Unix and the various brands of Unix and Linux; the various implementations of Unix, either in a network or single workstation environment; Unix's basic user interfaces, from command line to the X Window System; and some fundamental Unix commands, such as logging in or out of a Unix system and performing basic Unix file operations.

CM 0012 Sourcing and Cost/Price Analysis
The emphasis of this course is on how to maximize the use of adequate price competition in the source selection process. It includes how to remove barriers to competition and find qualified, responsible sources, at a fair and reasonable price. In the absence of competition, other price analysis methods and techniques are used to develop contract price objectives and provide a basis for negotiation. Instruction covers the application of cost analysis techniques, when it is performed, and how to analyze specific elements of a suppliers cost. Cost elements include direct material, direct labor, other direct costs, indirect costs, and profit or fee. Using case studies, students will learn about the tools and techniques involved in cost/price analysis.
