ENGR 0018 Construction Materials and Processes

Examines the materials used to construct a variety of structures, highways, utilities, and residential buildings. Includes terminology; interpretation of plans; and specifications to assure that correct materials are ordered, applied, and utilized. Methods of identifying materials delivered to the job site, methods of handling, quality control procedures for testing, and inspection of private and government work will be emphasized. Special emphasis will be given to the relationship of each material to the Uniform Building Code.

Marketing is crucial to the health and survival of any organization. This six-week course involves a comprehensive study of the basic concepts, techniques, and tools for developing a marketing strategy for the business of craft beer. Topics include research, targeting, positioning, branding, traditional media versus social media, public relations, websites, blogging, and email campaigns. We'll also explore building your customer base on-premise, off-premise, and direct-to-consumer (DTC) through both traditional and unique forms of marketing. Students will create their own craft beer marketing plan for their chosen beer or brewery.

WI 0024 Intensive: Italian Wines
Italy is the largest wine-producing country in the world, with Italian wines being the most imported in the United States. Knowledge of Italian wine is critical to wine professionals, particularly those involved in the distribution, hospitality, and retail industries. Through extensive tastings, this course will cover predominantly, but not only, the wines of Piedmont, Veneto, and Tuscany. You will learn about varietals, wine production by region, terroir, vineyard sites, and quality levels. Consequently, you will be able to properly place Italian wines in the market and communicate their value to your customers.

OL 0138 Software Programming Fundamentals
This course presents the basic concepts of computer programming and introduces learners to structured programming concepts, coding design, and style. Learners will be introduced to selection and repetition programming constructs, structured data types, and procedures. This course aims to teach generic programming concepts and skills using pseudo code to illustrate and work through algorithms and programming logic and discusses some of the most common best practices that should be used in the planning and coding stages. It also discusses best practices when considering security issues, efficiency, and maintenance.

Students will learn estimating problem-solving in general conditions, civil work, concrete, and masonry (excavation, backfill, grading, paving, landscaping, etc.). Hands-on estimating with quantity take-off, pricing, and bidding is stressed. Uniform cost index categories one-four will be covered.
