If you’d like to apply for the program, please complete the following steps in any order:
- Submit the formal application through Cal State Apply between Oct. 1 and July 1 for fall admission. A $70 nonrefundable application fee is required of all applicants at the time of application.
- Order official transcripts for all post-secondary education after completing the Cal State Apply application.
- Complete a free Supplemental Application
- International applicants may be required to take English language testing. Visit the SDSU Graduate Admissions website for testing and document requirements.
The application for fall admission is open until July 1.
To successfully apply for these programs, you should have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Successful applicants should also have experience in the hospitality, tourism, or meetings/events industries.
Candidates who lack a bachelor’s degree – but who have a track record of superior leadership within the hospitality industry or even in related industries – may be considered for a certificate program. While such a candidate may not be awarded a master’s degree, the graduate can receive a special designation upon completion of the full program.
The University no longer requires GRE/GMAT testing for admission to any graduate program, including our two master’s programs.
SDSU requires domestic graduate applicants to have a minimum 2.85 undergraduate GPA. international applicants are required to have a minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA. Applicants with an undergraduate GPA under 2.85 may be admitted conditionally.
Since all of our courses are run as special sessions (more condensed than the university’s regular semester time frame), registration is done through SDSU Global Campus. If you need assistance, you can reach SDSU Global Campus by calling (619) 594-1111. Registration and approval codes will be provided to admitted students each semester.
Starting fall 2022, SDSU Global Campus will be switching to a post-pay model, meaning you may enroll in classes without a payment required. You will need to submit your full payment through my.SDSU within 48 hours from the date of enrollment. You will receive an email notification and login information once you have registered. If you do not submit your payment within the specified time frame, you will be dropped from your classes. Click here for more information.
Please note that you must be accepted into one of our master's programs to take courses. Once accepted, you will receive course enrollment instructions.
Payment for both degree programs and individual courses is on a course-by-course basis. The tuition is currently $30,510, plus the cost of books ($550 estimated) and travel expenses for the two on-campus experiences; however, this is subject to change. The program is self-supporting and receives no public monies in financial support of its operation.

There are ten courses totaling 30 credits. Two courses are face-to-face in San Diego, and eight are highly-interactive online courses with recently recorded instructor lectures and contributions by guest lecturers on cutting-edge industry trends. The two face-to-face courses are a week-long immersion experience — one at the beginning of the program and one at the end.
Almost all course activities are asynchronous, meaning that you do not have to be online at any particular day/time to participate in the course. Some activities, such as role presentations, may require all students to participate at the same time. There are weekly assignments, including web exercises and discussion boards based on the weekly readings. You can access weekly lectures online.
We will evaluate requests for the transfer of credits on a case-by-case basis. The program is designed to be self-contained and students go through the program as a cohort.
