Faculty Led Study Abroad - Function of marketing in organizations and society. Strategic marketing planning in domestic and global settings to include marketing concepts, consumer behavior, market research, product planning, pricing, distribution, promotion, and influence of the external environment on marketing decisions.

This course will deal with the history of Islamic civilization in the imperial ages with a focus on Islamic Spain from 711-1492. It will also provide a general developmental outline of Islamic civilization from the advent of the Prophet Muhammad to the political and economic advances of the Muslims during the period between 600-1500 C.E. The Islamic empires once expanded form Western Arabia to the present map of the Middle East and North Africa, as well as parts of Asia, Tropical Africa and Southern and Eastern Europe.
Students will gain knowledge on basic principles of molecular and clinical virology. Then, they will become acquainted with viral infections of historical importance in Spain as well as very recent cases of infections of important human viral pathogens nowadays in the news. Frontal lectures will be accompanied by visits to both scientific and touristic attractions so the students will gain a full understanding of their surroundings; Barcelona capital, Catalonia, and Spain.
In this course we will be learning about the vibrancy and diversity of Iberian life and cultures, past and present. It will be an interdisciplinary course, examining history, music, foods, art, architecture, literature, film, politics, religion, and the economy. Because the course will take place in Barcelona, special attention will be given to the local relationship to Catalan, Spanish, Basque, and Portuguese cultures. Throughout, we will reflect on and discuss the connection between traditionalism and change that is so characteristic of both Spain and Portugal, past and present.
Variable topics in social and cultural history may include: Ritual in early modern Europe, radicals ad revolutionaries, intellectuals and society, families in former times, and American popular culture. See Class Schedule for specific topic. May be repeated with new content. Maximum credit six units.
